Version1.12
Your notes
ReMemo never trains AI models on your notes, and under their commercial terms our AI providers don’t either. Never sold. Never shown to another user.
Your data
Encrypted in transit and at rest, in the EU. Every query is scoped to your own account at the database layer.
Your rights
Delete your account at any time, and everything goes with it. Export your notes whenever you ask.
1 Introduction
Who we are and what this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how ReMemo (ReMemo Limited, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the ReMemo mobile application and any associated services (collectively, the “Service”).

ReMemo is a personal notes application with an AI memory layer. Because the nature of the product involves storing your personal thoughts, ideas, and reflections, we take privacy seriously as a foundational commitment – not a compliance checkbox.

By using ReMemo, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2 Core Privacy Commitments
What we will never do with your notes
✕
We will never use your notes to train AI models
ReMemo never uses your note content to train, fine-tune or improve any AI model – on any tier, now or in the future. The text we send to OpenAI and Anthropic to run ReMemo’s features is not used to train their models under their published commercial terms, which is what we rely on rather than a separate agreement – see “How your notes interact with AI” below.
✕
We will never sell your data
Your personal information and note content are never sold to third parties for any purpose, including advertising, marketing, or data brokerage.
✕
We will never share your notes with other users
Your notes are private to you. No other ReMemo user can read them: every query is scoped to your own user ID at the database layer, not in the app. For what access our own team has, and the limits we place on it, see section 5.
✕
We will never serve you ads
ReMemo is funded by subscriptions, not by advertising. We do not run ads, and we do not share your data with advertising networks or data brokers – on the free tier or the paid one. The free tier is not paid for with your data.
3 Information We Collect
What we collect and why
Data typeWhen collectedPurpose
Apple ID email address and identifier (optional)Only if you choose Sign in with Apple, in Settings or when subscribingTo link your account to your Apple ID, so it can be restored and so you can subscribe. The address is your Apple ID email or, if you chose Hide My Email, a private relay address. We never ask for your name. It is not shared with our analytics or subscription providers, and we do not send marketing email without explicit opt-in.
Emails you send usIf you contact support or send feedbackThe app opens your own email app, so your message and address reach us as ordinary email. We use them only to reply to you.
Note contentWhen you write or import notesCore product functionality. Stored in your private account. Used only to provide the Service to you.
Note embeddingsWhen a note is saved or importedNumerical vector representations of your notes, used to power Smart Resurface and Ask. Stored alongside your notes, scoped to your account only.
Subscription statusOn purchaseTo determine your tier (Free or Pro) and enforce feature entitlements. Managed via RevenueCat.
Feature usage countsOn feature usePer-account counts of Ask queries made and digests generated, held server-side to enforce free-tier limits. No note content is included.
Push notification tokenOn permission grantTo deliver your Weekly Digest and resurface notifications. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
TimezoneDevice, on setupTo schedule your Weekly Digest at 8:00 AM local time.
Usage analyticsIn-app activityCollected only if you turn it on in Settings – it is off by default. Events record which features are used, via PostHog, to understand how the product is used and improve it. They carry no note content, no device model, no language or location, and no IP address: the address is discarded on receipt. Events are retained for one year. Your consent is the legal basis for this, and withdrawing it stops collection immediately.
Crash diagnostics (via Apple)Only if you allow it in your device settingsReMemo contains no crash reporting of its own and sends us nothing when it stops working. If you have turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may pass us crash logs it collected. These record where the code failed, not what you had written.
✓
Your name and city never leave your device
If you personalise ReMemo with your name or city for a more personal greeting, that information is stored only on your device and is never synced to our servers, never included in backups, and never transmitted to any third party – including our own AI providers. This is optional; the app is fully functional without it.
4 AI Processing
How your notes interact with AI

ReMemo uses two third-party AI services to power its core features. Understanding exactly what is sent to each service is important.

OpenAI (Embeddings) – Note text is sent to OpenAI’s text-embedding API to generate a numerical vector representation. This happens in three situations: when you save a note, or import notes from another app, in which case every imported note is sent; when text you are currently writing is used to find related past notes, including where you never save it; and when you ask a question, so your question can be matched against your notes. OpenAI retains API inputs in its abuse monitoring logs for up to 30 days and then deletes them. Those logs may include the text itself and information derived from it, such as automated classification scores. OpenAI does not use this text to train its models. Retention may be longer where required by law, or where OpenAI considers it reasonably necessary to protect its services or others from harm. ReMemo does not currently hold a zero-data-retention arrangement with OpenAI. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy at openai.com/privacy.

Anthropic (Claude) – When you use the Ask feature, when your Weekly Digest is generated, when recurring themes are detected across your notes, or when Resonance runs as you write, excerpts from your most relevant notes are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API as context. Only the top semantically relevant note excerpts are sent per request – never your entire note library. Anthropic deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days of receiving them, and does not use them to train its models under its commercial terms. Retention may be longer where required by law or to enforce Anthropic’s usage policies: where a session is flagged by Anthropic’s automated safety systems, inputs and outputs may be kept for up to two years, and automated classification scores for up to seven years. ReMemo does not currently hold a zero-data-retention arrangement with Anthropic. See Anthropic’s Privacy Policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

Unsaved text – Two features send what you are writing before you have saved it, and neither of them waits to be asked. In both cases the text is sent before it is saved, and is sent even if you never save it.

Finding related notes – the more frequent of the two, and it goes to OpenAI. Shortly after you stop typing, the text on screen is sent to be turned into a vector and matched against your own past notes. It begins once you have written a short phrase, repeats no more often than once every few seconds, and continues for as long as you are writing – including on text you later rewrite or abandon.

Resonance – the less frequent of the two, and the one that sends your text to Claude. When a past note is closely related to what is on screen, an excerpt of that past note and an excerpt of what you are writing are sent to Claude, which describes the relationship between them in a single line. Resonance does not run on every keystroke. Four conditions must all hold: the past note must be related closely enough to clear a similarity threshold we set on our own servers; it must be at least 24 hours old; you must have written at least 40 characters; and it must be a different past note from the one Resonance last asked about.

Data minimisation – Note content is truncated to a capped excerpt before transmission to any third-party AI service, so a long note is never sent in full. We send only the notes necessary to answer your specific query, generate your digest, or describe a connection Resonance has found.

5 Data Storage & Security
Where your data lives and how it’s protected

Your notes and account data are stored on Supabase, a managed database platform built on PostgreSQL. Data is stored in eu-west-1. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified.

Row-level security – Every database query is scoped to your authenticated user ID through Supabase’s row-level security policies. No query can return another user’s data. This is enforced at the database layer, not the application layer.

Encryption – All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher. Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256.

Access – ReMemo Limited is a one-person company. Its sole director builds and operates the Service, and is currently the only person with access to production infrastructure. That access is administrative, of the kind anyone running a hosted database necessarily has, which means your note content is technically reachable rather than sealed away. It is not read in the normal course of operating the Service, and would be looked at only to investigate a specific fault you had reported, or where the law required it. If anyone else is ever given production access, it will be limited to those who need it to operate the Service.

7 Your Rights
What you can ask us to do at any time

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data. We honour all of these regardless of jurisdiction – they reflect our values, not just our legal obligations.

Access
Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you, including your notes and account information.
Portability
Export all your notes in Markdown or PDF format at any time from within the app (Pro) or by contacting us.
Correction
If you add your name and city in Settings, they are stored only on your phone and you can change them there. To correct anything else we hold about you, including the Apple ID email address linked to your account, contact privacy@rememo.me.
Deletion
Delete your account at any time in Settings, under Account. This removes your notes and their embeddings, the connections between notes, your digests and themes, your settings and usage counts, and the link to your Apple ID. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. We do not retain soft-deleted data.
Restriction
Analytics is off unless you turn it on. You can turn it on or off at any time in Settings, where the date of your choice is shown; turning it off stops collection immediately and does not affect any feature of the app. Disable push notifications at any time in device Settings.
Objection
If you believe we are processing your data in a way that is not justified, contact us at the address below.
8 Children’s Privacy
Age requirement

ReMemo is not directed at children under the age of 13, or under the age of 16 in the European Union. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9 Changes to This Policy
How we’ll tell you if anything changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes – particularly any that affect how your note content is processed – we will notify you via push notification at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The updated policy will always be available at https://rememo.me/privacy.

Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree with the updated policy, you may delete your account before the effective date.
